The last thing they ever did

This one is scary. CNN.com reported on a vacationing couple that took pictures of the tsunami just before it smashed onto the beach and killed them. The pictures are pretty impressive, but in the back of my mind I keep thinking, "Why are you fools still standing on the beach at this point?"

Yeah, no kidding. I saw the story on the news a few days ago, and they had the Knill's kids on asking the same exact thing. Really, though, that was apparently a common thing. Even local people (who should be used to ocean tides, if not tsunamis, and know how dangerous 'strange' things involving the ocean can turn out to be) are shown in videos and pictures just standing there, watching as the wave came closer. I suppose its understandable for tourists from Canada to have thought it was no big deal... I don't know. That was a darn big wave. I certainly would have been running.
